Trauma-Informed Counselling

At Moorlanga Healing, our trauma-informed counselling services are led by Aboriginal ways of healing, grounded in cultural identity, safety, and respect. We walk alongside children, young people and families with care, understanding the impact of intergenerational trauma, grief, loss and family and domestic violence (FDV). Our approach combines clinical knowledge with deep cultural wisdom to support emotional healing and connection. We use tools like storytelling, yarning, art and play in a safe, culturally responsive space.

Our work is guided by

  • Maara Bidi (Hands Path) Model of Healing, created for Aboriginal families
  • ARC Framework (Attachment, Regulation, Competency), adapted for our communities
  • Noongar values of kinship, responsibility, and cultural strength

All of our counsellors are Aboriginal practitioners or culturally trained professionals with Working with Children Checks, trauma-specific training, and supervision in place.“Healing begins when we feel safe, seen, and heard — in culture, in community, and in spirit.”
